Nouns – English Grammar
Nouns are words used to designate beings, people, animals, objects, places or more abstract notions. A noun can be subject or object in a sentence. It is often accompanied by an article or a determinant and it may be completed with an adjective. Nouns can also sometimes be replaced by pronouns.
Nouns are divided into common nouns and proper nouns:

Common nouns are words for people, animals, places, or things.
