Prepositions are an all-important part of speech, because they help us understand the relation between words of a phrase.

Furthermore, they are widely used to form a major part of Greek vocabulary, as they precede simple words and, subsequently,

modify them by superposing additional layers of meaning.

Les prépositions sont une partie du discours très importante, car elles nous aident à comprendre la relation des mots d'une phrase.

De plus, ils sont largement utilisés pour former un part important du vocabulaire grec, car ils précèdent des mots simples et par la suite,

les modifient en superposant des couches supplémentaires de sens.

Οι προθέσεις είναι μικρές, μορφολογικά αμετάβλητες άκλιτες λέξεις που μπαίνουν μπροστά από ουσιαστικά, επίθετα, επιρρήματα,

μετοχές ή αντωνυμίες για να δηλώσουν τον τόπο, τον χρόνο, τον τρόπο, την αιτία, τον σκοπό και άλλες σχέσεις ανάλογα με την πρόθεση

που επιλέγουμε κάθε φορά.

Ανά : per / par	Η στάθμευση κοστίζει 2e ανά ώρα : E : Parking costs 2e per hour. F: Le parking coûte 2e par heure
Άνευ : sans / sans	οι εχθρικές δυνάμεις παραδόθηκαν άνευ όρων E : the enemy forces surrendered unconditionally F : les forces ennemies se sont rendues sans condition
Αντί : instead of / au lieu de (preference)	Πίνω κρασί αντί για νερό E : I drink wine instead of water F: Je bois du vin au lieu de l'eau
Από : from / de ( cause, agent)	Κατάγομαι από τη Βέροια E : I come from Veria F: Je suis issue de Veria
Για : for / pour (destination, purpose, reference)	Θα λείψω για τρεις ώρες E : I’ll be absent for three hours. F: Je serai absent pendant trois heures
Δίπλα :  next to / à côté de	Το ποτήρι σου είναι στο τραπέζι, δίπλα στο τσάι μου E: your glass is on the table next to my tea F: ton verre est sur la table à côté de mon thé
Δίχως : without / sans (exception)	Πώς να πάμε διακοπές δίχως λεφτά; E : How will we go on vacation without money? F: Comment irons-nous en vacances sans argent ?
Εις : In / en	Όλα έγιναν εις βάρος της υγείας του E : All were done to the detriment of his health F : Tous ont été fait au détriment de sa santé
Εκ : From / depuis, de	Είχε το πρόβλημα εκ γενετής E : He has had the problem from birth F : Il a eu le problème depuis sa naissance
Εκτός : off /hors	είναι εκτός ορίων E : she's off limits F : il est hors-limites
Επάνω : up / en haut	οι τουαλέτες είναι επάνω E : the restrooms are up F : les toilettes sont en haut
Επιπλέον : in addition to / en plus de	το ξενοδοχείο επεκτάθηκε με την προσθήκη δωματίων Ε : the hotel was expanded with the addition of rooms F :  l'hôtel a été agrandi ajoutant en plus de chambres
Ένεκα : on account of /en raison de	Αθωώθηκε ένεκα πολλών αμφιβολιών E : He was acquitted on account of many doubts F : Il a été acquitté en raison de nombreux doutes
Εντός : inside / dans	Θα επιστρέψω εντός δέκα ημερών. E : I'll be back in ten days F: Je serai de retour dans dix jours
Εξαιτίας : because of / à cause de (cause of negative developments)	Ο Πέτρος σκόνταψε εξαιτίας μιας πέτρας E : Petros tripped because of a stone F: Petros a trébuché à cause d'une pierre
Επί : over, beyond / sur,  plus de	Είδα φλόγες πάνω από το Βερολίνο E : I saw flames over Berlin F : J'ai vu des flammes sur Berlin
Έως (ως) : until / jusqu'à (time, place)	Μείναμε ξύπνιοι ως το πρωί E : We stayed awake until the morning F : Nous sommes restés éveillés jusqu'au matin
Ίσαμε : until, up to / jusqu'à	Θα πάω ίσαμε το λιμάνι και θα γυρίσω E : I’ll go (up) to the port and I’ll be back F: Je vais jusqu'au port et je reviens
Κατά : against, during / contre, pendant	Οι πολίτες έκαναν μήνυση κατά του Δήμου E : the citizens turned against  the Municipality F : les citoyens se sont retournés contre la Municipalité
Λόγω : due to / en raison de	Κλειστό λόγω διακοπών E : closed due to holidays F : fermé en raison des vacances
Με : with / avec	Η Μαρία κάθεται με την Αλεξία E : Maria is sitting with Alexia F : Maria est assise avec Alexia
Μετά : after /après	Θα σε δω μετά το μάθημα E : I'll see you after school F : je te verrai après les cours
Μεταξύ : among / parmi	Μοιάζουν πολύ μεταξύ τους E : they (among) do look a lot alike F : Ils se ressemblent beaucoup
Μέχρι : until, up to / jusqu'à	Θα περιμένω μέχρι να τελειώσεις E : I will wait until you finish F : J'attendrai jusqu'à que tu termines
Παρά : despite /en dépit, malgrè	Παρά τη δυνατή βροχή, η Κατερίνα ήρθε στην ώρα της E : Despite strong rain, Katerina came on time F : Malgré le forte pluie, Katerina est arrivée à son heure.
Πέρα : beyond / au-delà	έδειξε ένα σημείο πέρα από τα δέντρα E : he pointed to a spot beyond the trees F : il désigna un endroit au-delà des arbres
Πλην : except / sauf	Ήρθαν όλοι πλην του Κώστα E : All came except Kostas F : Tous sont venus sauf Kostas
Πριν : before / avant que	Θα σταματήσεις πέντε βήματα πριν από τον τοίχο E : you will stop five steps before the wall F : Tu t'arrêteras cinq étapes avant le mur
Προ : ago / avant	480 προ Χριστού. E : 480 BC. F : 480 avant J-C.
Προς : to, towards / à, vers	Θα συναντηθούμε προς το απόγευμα. E : We’ll meet towards the evening F : On se rencontre vers la soirée
Σαν : such as / comme	Σου μιλώ σαν φίλος E : I speak to you such as friend F : Je te parle comme ami
Σε : into, at, in / à, dans	Το αυτοκίνητό του χτύπησε σε δέντρο E : His car ran into a tree F : sa voiture a heurté à l’arbre
Συν : plus / plus	Αυτό είναι ένα από τα συν του επαγγέλματος.
Υπέρ : in favor / en faveur, hyper	μόνο ένα ή δύο άτομα ήταν υπέρ E : only one or two people were in favor F : seulement une ou deux personnes étaient en faveur
Υπό : under / sous	θερμοκρασίες υπό το μηδέν E : temperatures below zero degree F : des températures inférieures à zéro degré
χάριν /χάρη :	Παραδείγματος χάρη (π.χ.) E : For example F : Par exemple
Χωρίς : without / sans (lack, exception)	Δεν γίνεται ομελέτα χωρίς να σπάσουμε αυγά E : you can’t have an omelet without breaking eggs F : vous ne pouvez pas avoir une omelette sans casser des œufs

In Mathematics, the prepositions are used:

• διά: ( / ) : division

• επί: ( x ) : multiplication

• ίσον: ( = ) : equality / égalité

• μείον, πλην: ( - ) : less /moins

• συν : (+) : plus

• Ευγενική χορηγία που στοχεύει να βοηθήσει μαθητές ή μη, απανταχού της Γης, που επιδίδονται στην εκμάθηση της ελληνικής γλώσσας!!!
• Contribution bénévole visant à aider les personnes, partout dans le monde, qui sont engagées dans l'apprentissage de la langue grecque !!!
• Voluntary contribution aimed at helping people, all over the world, who are committed to learning the Greek language !!!
