General rule

-i

Male names usually form the plural in -i:

  • libro->libri,
  • quaderno->quaderni,
  • cane-> cani

-e

Female names usually want the plural in -e:

  • mamma->mamme,
  • pizza-> pizze,
  • mela-> mele
