Tigrinya is the language spoken in Eritrea, a small country in the Horn of Africa, and in the Tigray region, in northern Ethiopia. It is also spoken by the Tigrinya diaspora in various parts of the world. Tigrinya is a Semitic language, related to Arabic and Hebrew, and it has its own unique alphabet. In this lesson, you will learn the Tigrinya alphabet, including the unique characters and their pronunciation.

The Tigrinya Alphabet

The Tigrinya alphabet consists of 32 letters, and it is written from left to right. Each letter has a name and a sound. The Tigrinya alphabet is based on the Ethiopic script, which is also used in other languages in Ethiopia, such as Amharic and Ge'ez.
