Knowing some basic geography terms in Kinyarwanda can help you communicate better when discussing travel, directions, or when watching TV or reading news about Rwanda. Rwanda is divided into five provinces, which are further subdivided into districts. Here's a list of the provinces in Kinyarwanda:

Rwanda is famously referred to as the "land of a thousand hills." Here are some of the most famous mountains in Rwanda:

- Person 2: Muhurire kuri iki ntimura. (Stand by this spot here.)
- Person 1: Okay.
- Person 2: Tora itara ry'ubuzima, dereva afite kurinda biri, ubanza bakwirukana na KBS. (Take the main road, the driver has to wait for you there, you will need to take the KBS bus first.)
- Person 1: Murakoze soko. (Thank you very much.)
