Paraguayan Guaraní Grammar - Conditional Mood

Hi Paraguayan Guaraní learners! 😊
In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Paraguayan Guaraní. We will look at how to form sentences in the conditional mood and how to use them in everyday conversations.

Take some time to dive into these other pages after completing this lesson: Pronouns, How to Use "Be", Questions & Negation.

Forming Sentences in the Conditional Mood[edit | edit source]

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an action that could happen in the future. In Paraguayan Guaraní, the conditional mood is formed by adding the suffix -rã to the verb. For example:

  • Kurirã - I would do
  • Kurupytyrã - You would do
  • Kururã - He/she/it would do

Using the Conditional Mood[edit | edit source]

The conditional mood is used in a variety of situations. Here are some examples:

  • Expressing wishes: Kurirã nde reko - I wish I could do it.
  • Expressing possibilities: Kururã nde reko - He/she/it might do it.
  • Expressing hypothetical situations: Kurupytyrã nde reko - You would do it if you had the chance.
