Basic Weather Vocabulary

Let's start with some basic weather vocabulary that you can use to describe the weather conditions.

Precipitation

Another important aspect of the weather is precipitation. Here are some words related to precipitation:

lumi	'lumi	snow
räntä	'ræntæ	sleet

• Note that some of these words are nouns and some are verbs. For example, "sadetta" is a noun meaning "rain," while "sade" is a verb meaning "to rain."

Sataa lunta. (It's snowing.)
