The national basketball team has a long history of success, including winning the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics and finishing fourth in the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

• Football (Soccer) - While not as popular as basketball, football is still a beloved sport in Lithuania. The national team has had limited success in international competitions, but local clubs like FK Žalgiris and FK Suduva have enjoyed some success in European competitions.

• Athletics - Lithuania has produced some world-class athletes in track and field, including Olympic gold medalists like Virgilijus Alekna and discus thrower Romas Ubartas.

• Swimming - Lithuanian swimmers have also made a name for themselves, with Olympic medalists like Rūta Meilutytė, who won gold in the 100-meter breaststroke at the 2012 Olympics.

Famous Lithuanian Athletes

Lithuania has produced many world-class athletes who have achieved success both domestically and internationally. Here are some of the most famous Lithuanian athletes:

• Arvydas Sabonis - Considered one of the greatest European basketball players of all time, Sabonis played for the Soviet Union and later for the Lithuanian national team. In his prime, he was a dominant force in the sport, combining skill with his massive size (7'3").

• Žydrūnas Savickas - Known as "Big Z", Savickas is one of the strongest men in the world. He has won the World's Strongest Man competition four times and is a powerlifting and strongman legend.

• Agnė Šerkšnienė - One of the most successful Lithuanian athletes in track and field, Šerkšnienė won gold in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

• Edvinas Krungolcas - A Lithuanian swimmer and Olympic medalist, Krungolcas won bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
