Cebuano Grammar - How to Use "Have"

In this lesson, we will learn how to use the verb "have" in Cebuano. This is an intermediate level lesson, so if you are a beginner, you may want to review some of the basics first. Let's get started!

Introduction

The verb "have" is used to express possession or ownership. In Cebuano, it is translated as "adtoon". It is used to talk about things that someone owns or has. For example, if you have a car, you can say "Adtoon ko'g sakyanan".

Usage

The verb "have" is used in two ways: with a noun or with a pronoun.

With a Noun

When using the verb "have" with a noun, the noun must be preceded by the article "ang". For example, if you have a car, you would say "Adtoon ko ang sakyanan".

With a Pronoun

When using the verb "have" with a pronoun, the pronoun must be preceded by the article "sa". For example, if you have a car, you would say "Adtoon ko sa akong sakyanan".
