Hi Pulaar learners! 😊
In today's lesson, we will be discussing adjectives in the Pulaar language. Adjectives are words that describe or modify nouns and pronouns. They can be used to give more information about a person, place, thing, or idea. In this lesson, we will look at how to use adjectives in Pulaar, as well as some common examples.
Adjective Placement
In Pulaar, adjectives usually come before the noun they are describing. For example:
- Ndeeɗo maaɓɓe - The big house
- Gorol mawɗo - The beautiful girl
However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, when using certain adverbs such as ɗoon, ɗum, and ɗiɗi, the adjective comes after the noun. For example:
- Ndeeɗo ɗoon maaɓɓe - The really big house
- Gorol ɗum mawɗo - The really beautiful girl
Adjective Agreement
In Pulaar, adjectives must agree with the noun they are describing in terms of gender and number. For example:
- Gorol mawɗo - The beautiful girl
- Gorol mawɗooɓe - The beautiful girls
Common Adjectives
Here are some common adjectives in Pulaar:
- maaɓɓe - big
- ɗemngal - small
- mawɗo - beautiful
- yaltuɗo - ugly
- hooro - old
- yontere - young
- ɗemɗe - short
- dartiiɗo - tall
