In North Azerbaijani, plurals are formed by adding a suffix to the end of the word. The suffixes used depend on the gender and number of the noun.

  • ev (house) → evlar (houses)
  • kitab (book) → kitablar (books)
  • adam (man) → adamlar (men)

Feminine Plurals

Feminine nouns take the suffix -lar or -lər when forming plurals. For example:

  • qadın (woman) → qadınlar (women)
  • gün (day) → günlər (days)
  • meyvə (fruit) → meyvələr (fruits)

Neuter Plurals

Neuter nouns take the suffix -lar or -lər when forming plurals. For example:

  • cənnət (paradise) → cənnətlər (paradises)
  • söz (word) → sözlər (words)
  • məktəb (school) → məktəblər (schools)

Irregular Plurals

Some nouns have irregular plurals. For example:

  • at (horse) → atlar (horses)
  • qardaş (brother) → qardaşlar (brothers)
  • qonşu (neighbor) → qonşular (neighbors)
