In this lesson, we will learn some of the most common drinks in Irish. Knowing how to order a drink in Irish is essential for any conversation. Let's get started! 🍻

Drinks

Here are some of the most common drinks in Irish.

Irish Pronunciation English Translation
Uisce Beatha /ˈiʃkʲə ˈbʲahə/ Whiskey
Beoir /bʲoːrʲ/ Beer
Fíon /fʲiːɔnʲ/ Wine
Siúcra /ʃuːkrə/ Sugar
Tae /tʲeː/ Tea

You can also use the word "drink" when ordering a drink in Irish. The word for "drink" is "deoch".

Ordering a Drink

When ordering a drink in Irish, you can use the following phrases:

  • "Cén deoch a mheas tú?" - What drink do you want?
  • "Cén deoch a bhfuil agat?" - What drink do you have?
  • "Cén deoch a fháil mé?" - What drink should I get?

You can also use the phrase "Is maith liom..." which means "I like...". For example, "Is maith liom uisce beatha" means "I like whiskey".
