Cebuano Vocabulary - Feelings and Emotions

Hi Cebuano learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the Cebuano words related to feelings and emotions. Knowing how to express your feelings in Cebuano is an important part of communication. Let's get started!

Introduction

Feelings and emotions are an integral part of our lives. They are what make us human and help us connect with others. In this lesson, we will learn the Cebuano words for different feelings and emotions. We will also learn how to use them in sentences.

Feelings and Emotions

Here is a list of some common feelings and emotions in Cebuano:

Cebuano Pronunciation English Translation
kalipay ka-lee-pie happiness
kasakit ka-sa-keet pain
kalungkutan ka-lung-koo-tan sadness
kahadlok ka-ha-dlock fear
kalisdanan ka-lis-da-nan anger
kalipayon ka-lee-pie-on joy
kalagot ka-la-got surprise
kalibutan ka-lee-boo-tan disgust

Now let's look at some examples of how to use these words in sentences.

Examples

Here are some examples of how to use the Cebuano words for feelings and emotions in sentences:

Cebuano English Translation
Akong gikalipayan sa pagkakita nimo. I was happy to see you.
Akong gikasakitan sa imong mga salita. I was hurt by your words.
Akong gikalungkutan sa imong pag-alis. I was sad when you left.
Akong gikahadlok sa imong pag-atubang. I was scared when you approached me.
Akong gikalisdanan sa imong pag-away. I was angry when you fought.
Akong gikalipayon sa imong pag-abot. I was joyful when you arrived.
Akong gikalagot sa imong pag-anunsyo. I was surprised by your announcement.
Akong gikalibutan sa imong pagkaon. I was disgusted by your food.

As you can see, the structure of the sentences is the same for all the words. The only thing that changes is the word for the feeling or emotion.
