Hi Sango learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn how to use the future tense in Sango. We will look at the different ways to express the future in Sango and how to use them correctly.
The future tense is used to talk about events that will happen in the future. In Sango, there are two ways to express the future: the present tense and the future tense.
Present Tense
The present tense is used to talk about events that will happen in the near future. It is formed by adding the suffix -a to the verb stem. For example:
Sango | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
ndɔgɔ | ndoh-goh | to go |
ndɔgɔ-a | ndoh-goh-ah | will go |
The present tense can also be used to talk about events that will happen in the distant future. For example:
Sango | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
ndɔgɔ | ndoh-goh | to go |
ndɔgɔ-a | ndoh-goh-ah | will go (in the distant future) |
Future Tense
The future tense is used to talk about events that will happen in the distant future. It is formed by adding the suffix -e to the verb stem. For example:
Sango | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
ndɔgɔ | ndoh-goh | to go |
ndɔgɔ-e | ndoh-goh-eh | will go (in the distant future) |
The future tense can also be used to talk about events that will happen in the near future. For example:
Sango | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
ndɔgɔ | ndoh-goh | to go |
ndɔgɔ-e | ndoh-goh-eh | will go (in the near future) |
