Hi Central Khmer learners! π
In this lesson, we will learn about the gender system in Central Khmer. We will look at the different genders and how they are used in the language. We will also look at some examples of sentences using gender.
Genders
Central Khmer has two genders: masculine and feminine. The gender of a noun is usually determined by its ending. Masculine nouns usually end in a consonant, while feminine nouns usually end in a vowel. However, there are some exceptions to this rule.
Masculine Nouns
Masculine nouns usually end in a consonant. Here are some examples of masculine nouns:

Feminine
- ααΆααααααΆαα αΌααα½ααααα»αααΆααααααα αΎα - say nih ban choul rum kon kaen nih hae - This woman has joined the event.
- ααΆααΈαααααΆαα αΌααα½ααααα»αααααααααα»αααΆαα»αα αΎα - sa-ree nih ban choul rum vok samut hae - This girl has joined the sister class.
