The wrong use of the word VAMONOS in Spanish[edit | edit source]

It's very common to hear it in the movies which makes it more famous unfortunately, just like the HASTA LA VISTA (BABY) line which is also incorrect.

Granpa Arnie should have said HASTA LUEGO, BABY or NOS VEMOS, BABY, ETC. We do not use VISTA in that sentence.

Anyway, the term VAMONOS is commonly misused, people think it always means "LET'S GO" but you must not always use it like that...

If you want several people to follow you, you simply say, SIGANME (FOLLOW ME) or VENGAN CONMIGO (COME WITH ME) or QUEDENSE CONMIGO (STAY WITH ME).

HOW TO USE THE WORD "VAMONOS" IN SPANISH[edit | edit source]

One example of how to use VAMONOS is, you and other people are leaving (as you can see here, I mean you and other people).

In movies when they want a person to leave the area they tell that person VAMONOS, VAMONOS, they sometimes even add the word ANDALE... which they must have learned it from Speedy Gonzales...wrong), so if all of you are leaving the house to go to a party, for example, then you can say VAMONOS which includes you (leaving with them).

In another example, let´s say you, by yourself, are in the car waiting for another person that's still in the house and it's taking long to join you, then you yell VAMONOS!! or YA VAMONOS!! (LET'S GO NOW!!).

The correct word for LET'S GO is VAMOS not VAMONOS.

Changing your computer and smartphone language to Spanish is a very good idea.

And do not worry we all make mistakes ;)
