Facts about Southern Dagaare[edit | edit source]

Dagaare is member of the Gur branch of Niger-Congo languages spoken in Ghana and Burkina Faso by about 1 million people.

Dagaare is separated in 3 different languages:

  1. Southern Dagaare spoken by about 700,000 people in Ghana in the northwest corner and in the Upper West Region. It is also known as Dagaare, Dagara, Dagari, Dagati, Degati or Dogaari.
  2. Northern Dagara
  3. Dagaari Dioula

  • Language code (ISO 639-3): dga
  • Other names for "Southern Dagaare": Dagaare, Dagara, Dagare, Dagari, Dagati, Degati, Dogaari, Southern Dagari
  • The Southern Dagaare language is spoken in: Ghana
