Polish pope and sacrosant. He became famous thanks to his openness to people from different culture and religion. He received Nobel Peace Prize for his aspirations for ending wars and conflicts. He was also an originator of World Youth Day.

Lech WaƂęsa[edit | edit source]

Polish politician and initiator of trade union and "Solidarnoƛć". He has been fighting for freedom in Poland and he has contributed to the fall of communism. He received a Nobel Peace Prize. He was the first president of Poland who was elected in free elections.

One of the best footballer in Europe. At the moment he plays at the Bayern Monachium team.

Polish writer who received a Nobel Price. She is the author of the books "Księgi Jakubowe" and "Bieguni".

Polish charity activist. He is an initiator of "Wielka Orkiestra ƚwiątecznej Pomocy" which is an organisation collecting money for medical equipment saving children and seniors. Many Polish celebrities and polititians support his activities by giving some things for the auctions.

MikoƂaj Kopernik (Nicolaus Copernicus)[edit | edit source]

Polish well-known scholar and astronomer. He is an author of heliocentric theory. In Poland we ofen say that he "stopped the sun and moved the Earth". You can find his monuments and museums in ToruƄ and Olsztyn.

Jan III Sobieski[edit | edit source]

One of Polish kings. He has reigned for 1629 to 1696. He became famous in the battle of Vienna, where he and his army defeated the Turkish army. He is also knonw for his huge love to his wife - Maria Kazimiera d’Arquien. He wrote many love letters to her.
