2. Negating Verbs:

To negate a verb in Panjabi, we use the negative particle "ਨਹੀਂ" (nahin) before the verb. Let's take a look at some examples:

Panjabi Pronunciation English Translation
ਮੈਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹਾਂ। Main parhda haan. I am reading.
ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ। Main nahin parhda. I am not reading.
ਉਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। Uh jaanda hai. He is going.
ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ। Uh nahin jaanda. He is not going.

3. Negating Nouns:

To negate a noun in Panjabi, we use the negative particle "ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ" (koi nahin) before the noun. Let's see some examples:

Panjabi Pronunciation English Translation
ਕੋਈ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਹੈ। Koi mulaazmaan hai. There is a clerk.
ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਹੈ। Koi nahin mulaazmaan hai. There is no clerk.

ਉਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। Us tareeke naal na karo. Do not do it that way.

6. Common Negative Words and Phrases:

In addition to using the negative particle "ਨਹੀਂ" (nahin), Panjabi also has several negative words and phrases that can be used to express negation. Here are some common ones:
