Odia, also formerly called Oriya, is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the state of Odisha, in eastern India, of which it is the official language. It is also one of the official languages of India. According to the 2011 census, Odia is the mother tongue of 37,521,324 Indians, including 34,712,170 in Odisha (92.5% of speakers and 82.7% of the state's population).
