Pronouns are such useful little words! They normally substitute nouns, making written and verbal language less boring by enhancing their flow.

Indefinite pronouns refer to one or more unspecified persons and objects.

The following table shows some of the indefinite pronouns with examples.

French : Le pronom indéfini 

Le pronom indéfini sert à désigner de façon vague des êtres ou des choses dont l'idée est exprimée ou non dans le contexte.

Ils répondent à la question :

• qui ?
• quelle ?
• que ?
• quoi ?

Greek: Αόριστες αντωνυμίες  

Οι αόριστες αντωνυμίες χρησιμοποιούνται στη θέση ενός προσώπου ή πράγματος, που για κάποιο λόγο δεν το αναφέρουμε.

Από αυτές, κάποιες αόριστες αντωνυμίες έχουν τρία γένη και κλίνονται σαν  επίθετα, ενώ κάποιες άλλες (όπως οι κάτι και τίποτε) είναι άκλιτες.    

 Οι αόριστες αντωνυμίες κανένας (κανείς), καμία (καμιά), κανένα και το άκλιτο τίποτα χρησιμοποιούνται σε αρνητικές και ερωτηματικές προτάσεις:

•Αυτό το μήλο δεν είναι πράσινο. (Άρνηση) : This apple is not green /  Cette pomme n'est pas verte (negation)

•Με ζήτησε κανείς; (Ερώτηση) : Someone asked me ? / Quelqu'un m'a demandé?

α) ένας, μια (μία), ένα : one / un, une	Ένας είπε… Somebody said…
β) κανένας (κανείς), καμιά (καμία), κανένα : noone, nobody / personne	Κανένας δεν ήρθε : E : Nobody came F : personne n’est pas venue
γ) κάποιος, κάποια, κάποιο : someone, somebody / quelqu'un-e	Κάποιοι σκέφτονται μόνο τον εαυτό τους E : Somebody think only of themselves F :quelques-uns ne pensent qu'à eux-même
δ) μερικοί, μερικές, μερικά : some, any / parfois, certains, tout	Μερικές φορές απορώ με το θράσος του: E : Sometimes I wonder with his audacity F: Parfois je me demande de son audace
ε) τα άκλιτα κάτι, κατιτί (indeclinable): something / quelque chose	Κάτι μ’ενοχλεί : E: Something is bothering me F : Quelque chose m'ennuie
στ) το άκλιτο τίποτε (τίποτα :  indeclinable) : nothing ,anymore / rien	Δεν είπα τίποτα :  E : I said nothing F : je n’ai rien dit
ζ) κάμποσος, κάμποση, κάμποσο : several / plusieurs, assez	Κάμποσα πράγματα πρέπει να γίνουν σήμερα : E : several things have to be done today
η)  καθένας, καθεμιά (καθεμία), καθένα και το άκλιτο κάθε :   anyone, each / n'importe qui, chacun	Κάθε φορά που μιλάμε μου λέει τα ίδια : E : every time we talk to each  other, he tells me the same F : chaque fois qu'on se parle, il me dit des mêmes

Attention:

If “κανένας (κανείς), καμιά (καμία), κανένα” and “τίποτα ” are used in a negative sentence with a verb,

the negative words “δε(ν)” or“ μη(ν)” have to be used as well.

Notice that Greek uses double negative.
