Irregular Comparatives and Superlatives[edit | edit source]

English[edit | edit source]

1) Comparative adjectives are used to compare differences between the two objects they modify (larger, smaller, faster, higher). As the name suggests, these are comparatives or superlatives that do not follow the previous rules. Some degrees of the adjective are elliptical, that is, they do not form degrees at all, having only the positive form and neither of the other two.

2) There are also some adjectives (which show matter, origin, place, time or a quotation which does not change) which does not form any degree of comparison.

3) Finally, there is a group of adjectives that form the monolectic ordinates

s'appellent anormaux.
