Exekias-ajax-achilles-det.jpg

Playing in Ancient Greece [edit | edit source]

The games played an important role in the life of the Ancient Greeks as a means of self-induction, so they gave great importance to their role.

The physical and mental development of children and their pedagogical value are highlighted by Plato, who states that the child should

to deal with group games in order to better prepare for the future status of the Citizen. The games were divided into individual and group,

while many of them also provided the use of game objects that develop companionship, exercise the body, cultivate the spirit,

they teach children to respect the rules-the laws of the game and, in the future, to respect in the future

and adhere to the laws of their homeland when they grow up.

Many of these, indelibly in the passage of time, are played to our day.

One of the most popular individual games was the "plague", the current rattle, which they gave to the babies to calm down the sound of the bell.

Another game for older children was the "plagues", clay dolls, which could be accompanied by miniature vases and furniture.

Favorite toys of the boys were the terraces of animals, usually cattle or horses, with wheels, "playthings"

which usually haunt their skirts.

Also, children played with balls, made from a pig bladder or cloth, stuffed with horses.

Girls and boys were playing "ankles" from the hind legs, goats or deer.

"Dexterity" is called a game that looks very much like today's basketball.

The aim of the game was to pass a ball through the edge of a vase by throwing it with his hands.

Also the "tug-of-war", where two teams were pulling the two ends of a rope and the winner was the team

which pulls beyond a fixed point the opponent.

In the copper musk (golden musk) today's blind bloke, the children tie the eyes of a player with a scarf.

The blindfold player tries to catch one of them and as soon as he succeeds, he takes his place.

In the offshore, a player closes his eyes and the others run to hide at a certain time.

The player opens his eyes and is looking to find them. Every time he finds one, he has to be able to run first back in his place,

otherwise loses. Yes, yes, you guessed correctly, it's the hide-and-seek! Eventually nothing changed, as if it did not pass one day.
