In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Kirghiz. The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that could happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and polite requests.

The conditional mood is formed by adding the suffix -sA to the verb stem. This suffix is added to the verb stem regardless of the tense, person, or number. For example, the verb "to go" is "bAr-", so the conditional form would be "bArsA".

  • Present Tense:
    • "I go" (men bArdim) becomes "I would go" (men bArsAdim).
    • "We go" (biz bArdik) becomes "We would go" (biz bArsAdik).
  • Past Tense:
    • "I went" (men bArdim) becomes "I would have gone" (men bArsAdim).
    • "We went" (biz bArdik) becomes "We would have gone" (biz bArsAdik).
  • Future Tense:
    • "I will go" (men bArarmen) becomes "I would go" (men bArsArmen).
    • "We will go" (biz bArarik) becomes "We would go" (biz bArsArik).

Usage[edit | edit source]

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that could happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and polite requests.

For example, if you want to ask someone to do something politely, you can use the conditional mood. For example, "Would you please help me?" (Sizge menge yardim qilsa bersinizmi?).

It is also used to express wishes. For example, "I wish I could go" (Men bArsa bileydim).

Finally, it is used to express hypothetical situations. For example, "If I had more time, I would go" (Eger menge kop zat waqit bolsa, men bArsardim).
