Magari VS forse[edit | edit source]
"Magari" can replace "forse" without big changes of meaning:
- Magari stasera vado al cinema / forse stasera vado al cinema
Maybe tonight I'm going to the cinema
Piuttosto VS forse[edit | edit source]
"Piuttosto" can also replace "forse":
- Piuttosto vado solo, ma con lui non viaggio / magari vado solo, ma con lui non viaggio
Maybe I'll go alone, but I don't travel with him
Magari: other meanings[edit | edit source]
Also "magari" is an exclamation used to express desire or regret:
- Magari avessi un mese di ferie!
Maybe I had a month's leave!
- Magari mi avessero già pagato per quel lavoro!
Maybe they had already paid me for that job!
- Non vai in montagna domenica? No, magari!, devo lavorare
Don't you go to the mountains on Sunday? No, maybe, I have to work
