In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Fijian. This is an important part of the language and understanding it will help you to communicate more effectively.

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or a future event that is dependent on another condition. It is also used to express wishes or requests. In Fijian, the conditional mood is formed by adding the suffix -va to the verb stem.

The conditional mood is formed by adding the suffix -va to the verb stem. For example, the verb "tiko" (to go) becomes "tikova" in the conditional mood.

Irregular Verbs[edit | edit source]

There are some irregular verbs in Fijian which have different forms in the conditional mood. For example, the verb "vosa" (to speak) becomes "vosataka" in the conditional mood.

  • "Au sa qai tiko e dua na ka au sa kila kina" - I would stay if I knew something.

  • "Meu vosataka mada na ka au sa kila" - I wish I could speak about what I know.
