Facts about Balti[edit | edit source]
Balti is a Tibeto-Burmese language spoken among the Tibetan populations of Pakistani Baltistan around Gilgit and Skardu. It is also spoken in Purik, the region around Kargil, west of Indian Ladakh, and thus also takes the name of puriki. Balti-speaking populations also live in the Nubra Valley, in northern Ladakh.
