Η τρίτη κλίση περιλαμβάνει ονόματα ουσιαστικά
και από τα τρία γένη : αρσενικά, θηλυκά, ουδέτερα. Τα τριτόκλιτα ουσιαστικά είναι όλα περιττοσύλλαβα, δηλαδή, έχουν στη γενική και δοτική του ενικού και σε όλες τις πτώσεις του πληθυντικού μία συλλαβή περισσότερη από την ονομαστική. π.χ ὁ πί-ναξ, τοῦ πί-να-κος (le tableau), τὸ σῶ-μα, τοῦ σώ-μα-τος( corps /body), ὁ ἥ-ρως, τοῦ ἥ-ρω-ος (le héros)κλπ Τα τριτόκλιτα ουσιαστικά λήγουν στην ονομαστική του ενικού σ' ένα από τα φωνήεντα: α, ι, υ, ω ή σ' ένα από τα σύμφωνα ν, ρ, ς, (ξ, ψ). Στη γενική του ενικού λήγουν σε -ος, -ως, -ους |
The third declension group includes three grammatical genders masculine, feminine and neuter nouns.
Ηave different endings strikingly different and are assigned. These nouns in the nominative singular end with the vowels α, ι, υ, ω or with the consonants ν, ρ, ς (ξ, ψ). The genitive singular In : -ος, -ως, -ους |

Τα ουσιαστικά της κατηγορίας αυτής, ενώ φαίνονται πολύπλοκα είναι αρκετά απλά, αρκεί να σκεφτούμε τι γίνεται
