Er, per my view, 周末 equals to Weekend (Saturday, Sunday, sometimes we also take Friday night as a part of the weekend)
双休日 it stands for TWO DAYS OFF A WEEK, in most of time two days are Saturday & Sunday, but for some particular jobs they may take two other days as the rest days. So we could say 周末 equals to 双休日

    And also we could ask "What are you gonna do on 周末" == "周末有什么安排" == “周末干点啥” == “周末想做些什么”， 双休日 we normally use it like "I am too tired, but lucky I have 双休日". 双休日 it's more useful when you are wanna express how many days you could have per week (Above are own opinions... just for example, for sure there are many cases to go with)
