First of all, it´s not イラがな but ひらがな. Let´s give some real-life examples: NHKですか。この道(みち)をずっと上(うえ)まで行(い)ってください。The NHK? Go straight up this street. この橋(はし)の下(した)に流(なが)れるのは神田川(かんだがわ)です。 The river under this bridge is the Kanda-gawa. 区役所(クヤクショ)の前(まえ)で降(お)りてください。Get off (the bus) in front of the ward office! 自転車(ジテンシャ)に乗(の)っている時(とき)には、絶対(ゼッタイに後(うし)ろを見(み)ないでね!Never look behind you when you are riding your bicycle, understood?!
I used both ひらがな and カタカナ for the readings of Chinese characters, The former for pure Japanese words and the latter for Chinese loans.
