CEVAPLA
Duc_December 2022 The greetings depend on the situation. A formal address on postcards and other written materials is "Ein gutes Neues Jahr!". The informal versinon might be "Guten Rutsch!". It assumes the transfer into a new year is like slipping in time, thus "Rutsch (to glide). And the first encounter in the new year among people knowing each other might be: "Prosit Neujahr" ou (au sud d'Allemagne) "Prost Neujahr", l'équivalent de français "Bonne année!"
