Guten Abend! Aufregung = Excitement? Upheaval? Both?

I remember last year our German teacher explained to us something like, when I use “sich” verbs (reflexive Verben), I always do something on my own. This makes it easier for me to explain to myself.

So when I don’t influence something, it happens to me for some reason, than I’ll say this, for example:
”I’m excited about a date.”
”Ich bin aufregend auf ein Date”

And than, when I am unnecessarily nervous or unable to stay calm. Then my friend says, ”Why are you annoying yourself?”.
”Warum regst du dich auf”

It’s true that something originally happened that affects my state of mind, but I’m still “involuntarily” reinforcing this by not being able to control myself, so maybe I’m also actively involved in my own mood swings.

Do I understand correctly? Is this right that whay?

I totally agree with the first sentence. Although, i cannot really comment on the rest of your text, as in fact I’m just learning German. I hope you will find this out! Good luck my friend.

Hi, I just read your question. Unfortunately, I can’t give you an explanation, because I’m also just learning German now. But when I want to look at what a term means in different contexts, I tend to browse these pages, I hope it will help you.

I am sure, there are several similar sites, but I only know those two.

Enjoy the learning and good luck for browsing smile.gif

Also, sich aufregen = to be upset but aufgeregt sein = to be excited.
Wunderbar! Alles ist klar jetzt. Vielen Dank.
