During work I use so many phrases, and I keep thinking on that thread, so I'll throw in once more some I use very often. I had a conversation today and noticed we both used a phrase like every 2nd sentence. Last post though, I think I'll open a lection section for it in future. So here they are:

If someone does something with high ambition or amount of something, to the max, to the extreme. Can be used in any content.

Both mean that you are partying hard, enjoying something very much. The second one though can also be used if you talk to someone strictly.

If you cannot get rid of a certain thought.

If someone tells private things / secrets.

ins Fettnäpfchen steigen.

If someone commits a faux pas, for example spoiled a secret which he shouldn't.

If someone tries to help you, but actually makes everything worse.

This is a very strange saying, you wish somebody to break his neck and leg, but actually it means the very opposite. Kind of a funny saying, which probably has something to do with our sense of humor.

You don't know anything about a topic at all.

If you can't give precise information about something, but you can tell a thing about it, you don't want the other to be fussy about it (often heard in politic discussions)

Posaune (=big trumpet). Just don't tell it everybody.

If someone complains about somebody, but does the same thing himself.
