Hi friend. It's a pleasure to see that someone would like to improve oneself's skills. Here there are some methods and steps I am using and tested by my own. Let's begin!

1) Learning how to read German(how to read syllables, words and so on) if you are not sure about pronunciation of words, you may listen to it on translate.google.com or forvo.com(by native speakers)
2) Every day spending 30 minutes of reading aloud German text(may be some fairy tales, fiction, small narratives, poetry and so on. You can read your choosing for 1,2, 3 times again. During the reading you don't mind about understanding the content, just important thing for learning is to read it aloud. It's good if you can learn about 5 new words from the text you just read daily. I am not recommending do reading over 30 minutes of target language for one time your brain will be just tired and it will not make a proper result .For example I study Spanish and German. I'am reading German for 30 minutes, then I make a pause(go to eat something, or do something then come back and read my Spanish for 30 minutes. Also you can split time like: 15 minutes in morning and 15 mins at night.
By the way, the brain better remember information when you do the things like just before going to sleep. You will get high results after 30-60 days of doing it.

3) It's good to listen your target language. It can be your favourite movies, music(you can see translations of the lyric.) YouTube video and so on. Also don't mind a lot about the understanding, just listen to it, after a while you will be able to understand more and more words from the speech(I am daily watching a movie or a short video in German) I am using this method for my Spanish and English. Now I am fluent in English and almost fluent in Spanish.
4) Also the great thing in learning is to use your target language, you can make phrases of the words you know, you can join the German chat room and speak with natives, persons as you that learn it, or with your own, just write or type down the sentences.

5) Expend your vocabulary, I know one website that is excellent for learning vocabulary I will put it to the link below. The system of daily repeating of word that was used there by the best way helps you to remember the words you study to the the long perspective. I think the web is amazing.

Also I would say please don't be shamed or shy to use online translator like translator.google.com or others to translate words and some not long phrases that you want to know. And as you are using it please don't copy-past it, but look at and type it, after typing 1-10 times the words in a sentence you will remember it goodly enough to not use Google for this word or phrase in the future.

Here we got the point: Practice it and use it

The Links:
1) To study vocabulary: memrise.com
I recommend this two course, which one you decide it.
First - memrise.com/course/47049/5000-words-top-87-sorted-by-frequency/
Second - memrise.com/course/250014/learn-german-for-polyglot-no-typing/
Also you can find there a pile of other ones.

2) To translate translate.google.com
Also to find out how to use a word in content with translation you can use context.reverso.net/translation/german-english/die+Suche
To listen to words that were recorder by natives it's possible here: forvo.com

3) To find some friends to practice German with you can here and on:
Interpals - interpals.net
Helingo - helingo.com

4) To watch German movies or ones that were translated in German:
TMovie - tmovie.to
DDL - de.ddl.me
StreamKiste - streamkiste.tv

And here is one trick how to find out the name of movie in German in case if you don't know proper name of wanted movie. I use google search system, so signed in my account there and changed the language of system in German. What benefits? When I am trying to find out the name of the English movie in German I put it onto the search line in English and then google shows me how it will be in German for example, put there "the good dinosaur" in German variant it calls "Arlo & Spot"

It was a plesure to share all this information, please if you have any question just write me a message.
I wish you a high success in all your beginnings!

I studied German for 8 months (class lessons), now i am B2 level. Result: my listening skills with native german = 0, my speaking = A1. So now i came up with the idea to listen every day a short german dialog and listen to it carefully until i able to fully understand it. It's been a week now. I have started noticing many things. I wonder how long it's going to take until i will be able to hear them clearly when they talk. It is so frustrating when people are talking to me and not to able to understand i feel like an alien.

I may also throw in my 2 cents:

I always write down new vocabularies or phrases on a sheet which I attach to my wc door. That's a good way to be sure to see those a few times a day. For vocabularies I often don't translate them into another language, but rather draw a small image of it instead.

Talk to yourself aloud. Since I had nobody to chat with on a daily basis, I started to talk to myself or pretending to explain something to somebody. It turned out working quite well.

Also I have subscribed 1-2 youtubers with language courses so I always get new input.
In german there are two very good ones, but probably even more.
