Well, apart from the fact that STEPWAY is used here as a name, Merriam-Webster defines this word as "a flight of steps". Also, from a quick google search, I've noticed that the only real difference between the Stepway and the Sandero (another Dacia 4x4) is that "the Stepway rides farther off the ground than the Sandero, consequently it’s easier to slide in and out of" so maybe that has something to do with it.

I believe the step on the side of old model cars in America was called a "running board". I have never heard of a step-way. May be British English.

This is a guess, and I'm not sure of Dacia. But on a car a step-way may be a step such as the old cars used to have.  I think I may have used them getting in and out of British taxis in the 60's.  Would make for interesting research!
