”to wake up” = to go from sleeping to not sleeping. You can still be in bed when you wake up.

”to get up” = to leave the bed after you are no longer sleeping.

I woke up at 7am then I got up 10 minutes later to go to the kitchen to have breakfast.

(woke - past tense of ”wake”; ”got” - past tense of ”get”)

1. wake up = ”to awaken”, i.e., come out of a state of sleep
2. get up = ”to arise”, to emerge from a state of slumber, physically, from a bed, a chair, a floor -- really wherever one was situated during ”sleep” and, having awakened, is now rising up to activity, etc.
