Before you can ask the question about "movies to improve English", you first must think about what in your English you want to improve and what your present level of English is.

For example, is it formal or informal English you want to practise listening to?

What level of listening are you?

Do you have an emphasis on British / American/ Australian English?

Perhaps you might have specific goals about the vocabulary you want to learn.

For example, if your level is A2, you might want to think about children's cartoons with simple grammar and common vocabulary. Children's cartoons are also good for lower level language learners because there is usually not a lot of idiom in the speaking and the pictures usually help with understanding the meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary.

If your level is about B2, then a movie like "Dead Poet's Society" would be good, particularly if your emphasis is American English.

These are just a couple of examples. There are many many others.

Apart from what I've said, it's vital that you choose a movie with a theme/story which you enjoy. If it's boring for you, then you are not going to learn and remember very much

Also, a recommendation that I give is to watch the first 10 minutes or so of the movie, then start to watch the movie from the beginning. What this does is gets you used to the accent/speaking in the movie. When you start again, then you are used to the accent/speaking and can focus on the movie's story right from the beginning.

If you can't really understand much of what is being said in the movie after watching it for 10 minutes a second time, then the movie is probably too difficult for you and you should choose a new movie to watch.

Dead Poets Society
Before Trilogy
Silver Lining Playbook
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
You can watch just about any movie. It will expose you to a larger vocabulary, slang, and different accents. These are some movies that I really love.
