I'll try to explain.

If you say "Why did you buy" it means that I have already bought it and you're asking the reason of buying the phone. And if you say "Why would you" it means that I haven't bought it yet and you're asking why I might want to buy it.

Whilst Fabbyfabi is right, sometimes it is used in the past tense. This is usually aggressive. If you show someone a phone you bought and the speaker says, "why would you buy that?" it implies that the speaker cannot think of a possible reason why the thing should have been bought. Depending on tone, "why did you buy that?" can be a less aggressive way of asking what the reason is that someone bought an item.
