As @rickycom pointed out, two VERY popular Russian songs are:

- "Katyusha"
-"Kalinka"

To add to the list:

- "Podmoskovnie vechera"
- "Aleksandra"
- "Peshya o druge" (by Vysotskiy)
- "O druge" (sung by Anofriev)
- "Odinakaya brodit garmon"
- "Sneg idyot" (Nikitins, Sergey i Tatiyana)
- "Posledniy geroy" (Viktor Tsoy)

And a helluva lot more; IF you are in the mood for songs about Soviet life -- its struggles and its rewards/merits, seek to hear the works of such "bards" as:

Владимир Высоцкий
Булат Окуджава
Олег Митяев
Александр Розенбаум
Олег Анофриев
Александр Мирзаян
Виктор Цой
Майк Науменко
Михаил Боярский
Марк Бернес
Александр Городницкий
Александр Галич
Жанна Бичевская
Алла Пугачёва
Лариса Долина

In a more contemporary vein there are such as:

ДДТ (Юрий Шевчук) (DDT is band; Shevchuk is leader)
Чайф (band's name)

And of course there are hundreds of traditional folksongs, e.g.:

- "Уральская рябинушка" (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)
- "Маленький ты мой/Милая моя" (ALSO MUCH RECOMMENDED!)
- "Вот за что люблю Ивана!"
- "Как пойду я на быструю речку"
- "Калинка" (already menationed by @rickycome)

Note: If you can find it, the song arrangement version of the great WW2 era Russian poem ""Жди меня", one of the most poignant & touching poems in ANY language.

Good luck in your quest to find and listen to some of the finest music the world has ever known.

While I do love "Kalinka", I have always had a helluva soft spot for "Uralskaya Ryabinushka", closely followed by "Katyusha".

One more great traditional number:

"Bublichki"

Note that many "popular" titles in Russian circles are songs from film soundtracks -- they (Russians) are MUCH MORE prone to making popular filmscore songs than are, for example, Americans.

Also I am remiss in that my list of Russian bards, singers of folk/traditional songs and singers of popular "chansons" failed to include two IMPORTANT talents:

- Mark Bernes
- Sofiya Rotaru

Note: Rotaru, a Ukrainian by birth, sang/spoke w/ equal native facility in Ukrainian, Russian, Moldavian (sort'a like Romanian), and Romanian. She also sang several numbers in Bulgarian. She is a veritable Slavic (+ Romanian) POLYGLOT.
