"House" refers to the building people live in. It is used in a more concrete way to indicate a particular type of building.

-They are buling a lot of new houses in my neighbourhood.

On the contrary, you call "home" every place you live in (and you belong to), not necessary a house. Your "home" can also be an apartment, a cave or a boat, provided that you live in it and you have an attachment to this place because of the fact that you are living in it. It can also mean more broadly "the place you live in", "your palace of origin", "the place you belong to", or "the place where people/animals are taken care for by people".

-My home country is Italy

-When she's abroad, she misses home.

-We volunteer at a dog's home

House is a type of building whereas home is simply someone's residence no matter how big or small it is. Furthermore, other places are considered home since one originate from or was born in. (homeland, hometown)
