is it the same as "a text", "an input" ?

Yes, as in accounting.
It is sometimes used as a shortened form of "entryway" (the entrance to a house)

You asked if it is the same as "a text," or "an input." I have to say that "an input" is more correct. As Kangaroo notes, it might be an entry in a check book, which would be an accounting entry, or numbers, but if you were to write an entry in your diary, then it would be whatever text you choose. Either way, you would "enter," or "put in" whatever the venue calls for.
