"I was not aware how serious was the situation."

I wonder if it's correct to say

"I was not aware about how serious was the situation."

Better: "I was not aware of how serious the situation had become." or "I did not know about the situation." Do not confuse with the word, "whereabouts". Good luck.

"I was not aware how serious the situation was." (Both sentences are wrong.) No need to repeat

Good question! The other answers before mine are correct. Also, you’re making the same error as my students & I’ll try to explain this the best I can: The verb “was” has to be at the end of the clause. If you put the verb before the subject “situation,” that’s the order for asking a question: How serious was the situation? My students always say, “I don’t know what is it,” and “I don’t know who is it. “ Again, you don’t want to make this interrogative, so put the verb last.
