Marriage in different languages

Jetzt abstimmen!

Hello, ahoj, sziasztok, hola,

my question is rather simple, as same-sex marriage has become legalized in 27 different countries around the world, all of which speak quite a few languages I would like to know more about the nuances that revolve around the use of "marriage" or related terms "husband and "wife" in those languages and how they (newly) apply also to same-sex couples. In Czech, one of my two native languages we use a term "manželství" (marriage) and "manžel" (husband) and "manželka" (wife), in Hungarian we say "házasság", "férj" and "feleség" respectively. Both national languages have yet not, fully, recognized same-sex use of these terms. So my question is to know more how these terms work in other languages and how their use for same-sex marriages has become normalized in:

Spanish:

Catalan:

Portuguese:

Galician:

French:

Breton:

German:

Dutch:

Danish:

Norwegian:

Swedish:

Finnish:

Welsh:

Irish:

or others:

My intention is to create a big infographic about this that will include a language thematic map. I will be glad for all your help and especially for some examples of how the kinship language is used in same-sex queer way in those various languages!

Thank you!
