My Visit to Istnabul
- I want to inform you about my visit to Istanbul as an English writing practice.
- Before the pandemic started, I went to Istanbul with my mother.
- I had been to Istanbul several times.
- But I couldn’t have found an opportunity to see the beautiful and historic sites of Istanbul in my previous visits.
- We travelled to Istanbul by bus.
- Where I live is not far from Istanbul so we had arrived there in 2.5 hours.
- We got off the bus in Esenler Coach Terminal.
- Then we got up to the metro from Esenler to Sultanahmet.
- These words which I just wrote were names of some districts in Istanbul, and Sultanahmet district is a very touristic place.
- Maybe the most touristic place in Istanbul because Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapı Place were in this district.
- We came up here by metro as I mentioned before.
- We were hungry, so we ate something in a restaurant.
- Then, we went to Hagia Sophia first.
- It was still a museum when we visited it. It was good.
- It was good to see the engravings there.
- They were very interesting.
- Also where the emperors and empresses sit was above the place where people worship.
- It was engraved in my mind, and I can still remember it clearly.
- Having seen the Hagia Sophia, we visited Basilica Cistern.
- We prefer to say Yerebatan Sırnacı here.
- If I’ll tell the truth, I looked at Wikipedia for learning its English equivalent.
- It was an interesting place to visit because it was a kind of ancient water tank for keeping water for the city people.
- You can walk inside of it.
- It is a bit damp place, but you can see a column at the end of it.
- You can see engrave of Medusa’s face on this column.
- People throw coins in the pool around the column for wishing something.
- My Istanbul journey didn’t finish here but I will continue it later.
- Thank you very much for fixing the mistakes I made in advance.
