  • ”some people believe that a person ’s intelligence in inherited from the parents, while others believe that their environment is the main factor.
    • Discuss theses views.
    • Which factor do you think is mostly responsible for intelligence?” The intelligence is inherent to the humans.
    • It is what makes us humans.
  • ’Homo sapiens’ means ’the man who knows that he knows’.
    • But, not everyone has the same level of intelligence.
    • Genetic and environmental characteristics influences it.
  • Also, there are lots of different kinds of intelligence.
    • Some people has math intelligence, some other have artistic intelligence.
  • Other kinds of intelligence are also possible: musical, physical, emotional, and so on.
    • But, how and why people are so different, and there are so many differences in intelligence?
    • Scientists explain some part of it, attributing this to genetic factors - for example, some singers have kids with their same talented voice, like Chico Eller, who is Cassia Eller’s, a dead and famous singer here in Brazil.
  • Her son is now about 18 years old and his voice is extremely like his mother’s voice.
    • Following this example, I think environmental has the same importance as genetic factors: Could Chico became a singer if he had not contacted with music schools?
  • Or if he had not learned to play the guitar?
    • Or if he had not studied in good schools?
  • I don’t think so.
    • In fact, I believe in that: we are all very intelligent.
    • Some of us has different kinds of intelligence, and it is a very good thing.
  • If everyone were the same, the world would be very boring.
    • Our differences in intelligence, genetic and environmental, are fundamental to our development.
    • Our intelligence starts in our brains, by genetic factors.
    • But, only genetic is not enough for us to show our intelligence.
    • The environment is a fundamental part for our intelligence.
    • Without an environment which helps us to develop our abilities, the genetic factors won’t matter.
    • We can’t develop our intelligence without a favorable environment .
