  • About A Little Snail

  • -You can eat your candy while reading this.
  • I assume you would like to read something interesting but I guess I might ruin your interest here.
  • So at least, you have your candy with you.- I'm gonna talk about a little snail who lives far away from wherever you are right now.
  • If by good chance you meet -her- on the roads, or see her wayfaring in your beloved city–dancing in your favorite park, or..finding her laying on the grass, just wave your hand or smile, and you would definitely get the sweetest smile in return.
    • I’m really serious about it!
    • During her stay in Europe, many people told that she is from Philippines.
  • Mostly, they referred to it because of her Asian look.
    • Well, Philippines is not far from her country; one day she told that where-she-comes-from is a magical place.
    • You wouldn’t find it easily even with the help of magic map.
    • It is somewhere upon the hill in Indonesia, where you hardly find no electricity nor transportation accessibility.
    • This magical place is where she, first time, begun life.
    • I know and believe that it’s very far from where you are.
    • Unfortunately, it’s also not simple to find her village unless you ask me, or ask her neighbor, or her father!
  • Wherever you meet these people, they would take you directly to that small and peaceful village, if you like to.
    • The villagers are bataknese, this is one of the ethnic in Indonesia.
  • They also have their own religion in which King Sisingamangaraja XII was the former leader of this belief.
  • This religion was threatened by the Christianity which brought the war and separation to the land of Batak.
    • Now the follower of this religion remains minority, and even they face so many problems in society and bureaucracy.
  • Yes, now, it is the year of amazing 2017, no electricity, I know, I swear about it, and of course sorry to disappoint your expectations–about our modern world.
  • Actually, there are many remote villages like that in Indonesia.
  • There were some years they actually could use electricity by using Solar Panel power which was very useful.
  • They appreciated the lights a lot.
    • That glory day–it lasted only very few years, people had to get back to the old age without electricity.
    • And now probably the only house with no lights is her small house which located a bit isolated from the other houses.
  • For your information, you can count the houses there with all of your fingers–hands and feet–not more than the fingers you have.
  • If one day you meet people who recognize this hidden place, they must be from the neighborhoods or the people whom I or she met and told about this place.
  • This is where her home, where she used to fly self-made kites with little friends–running down the hills barefoot–where the serenity was broken only by the children’s laughter.
  • The late afternoon, every house emitted smoke because usually it was cooking time.
    • Meanwhile, the shepherd habitually lied on the grass while eating wild fruit, berries- kind, which in her mother tongue called ‘harimotting‘ .
  • This fruit grows everywhere and the shepherd of the goat and buffalo usually picked them while getting lost exploring between the trees and thickets.
    • It’s amazing to hear goats and buffaloes calling each other or maybe we could say that they were just shouting of excitement being free in the nature.
  • Our little snail, always felt contented of how awesome to only notice the sun going down and definitely the shepherd know when to go back home with the herds.
    • Of course, they rode the buffalo getting back home!
