  • My recent read.

    • A couple of days ago I finished reading the first book of the "Mistborn" trilogy - "The Final Empire".
  • I really liked it and I intend to finish the trilogy quite soon, despite the fact that two last books are both about 700 pages long.
    • So, the first book is set in the government called The Final Empire ruled by the Lord Ruler, who is considered to be a god, because (supposedly) he is immortal and it is believed that he has saved the humanity from the Deepness - the mysterious thing that could destroy the world.
    • There are skaa - people without rights, simple workers, just like slaves; the nobility - those who are rich enough to build their own Keep - a magnificent house; and those who work in the palace and help the Lord Ruler - dangerous obligators and dreaded Inquisitors.
  • There is an incredibly unique and immensely interesting magical system - people called Allomancers can burn (use) metals that they consume in little amounts, and each metal gives a certain power, but only until it runs out.
    • Those people who can use all the metals are called Mistborn, and those who can use only one - Mistings.
  • By the way, it's not the only "superpower" that people can possess in this world.
    • The book follows Vin - a simple skaa girl, a member of a thieving crew.
    • One day she gets noticed by a leader of another thieving crew - Kelsier, a Mistborn, the Survivor of Hathsin.
  • He senses the Allomantic power in her.
    • She ends up in his crew, and her life changes completely.
    • Turns out that Kelsier has a really bold and (at first sight) completely crazy plan...
  • I won't say more, because it's impossible to do so without spoilers.
    • I'll just say that for me the book was really interesting, and closer to the end of it I wasn't able to put it down.
    • I was afraid that the ending will disappoint me, but fortunately no such thing happened.
  • I believe that it all really had to finish this way.
