Racism in Serie A is a serius problem in the Italian modern football (soccer).

The top-flight Italian clubs said in a open letter that their players have been racially abused in several recent incident so they could no longer stay silent.

Actually Italian football authorities and their disciplinary systems to combat racism are not fit for purpose as in Europe.

The ex UEFA President Michel Platini has introduced stricter sanctions against racist conduct.

So the campaign to eliminate racism, discrimination and intolerance from football has become a major priority for UEFA in recent years to give a message of zero tolerance for any form of racism and discrimination, in favour of more respect for diversity.
