Movie review
- When I was in the summer in the hospital and was waiting for surgery, my son brought me a few movies for viewing.
- One of it was dedicated to dogs and Antarctica. I like dogs.
- At home, I have a dog named Jackie.
- And while I was in the hospital, I missed him.
- Info about the film: In the Russian version of the movie was called "White captivity".
- But in the original American version of the film is called “Eight Below”.
- The film was created in 2005 (2006) and tells about the survival of dogs in the Antarctic.
- This is a remake of the Japanese film of 1983 Antarctic history, based on real events.
- Events take place mainly in the Antarctic in 1993.
- Employee of the Antarctic station Jerry Sheppard and professor at the University Davis McLaren went on a dog sled in search of a meteorite.
- Despite the worsening of the weather and the order to return to the station, Davis convinced Jerry to reach his destination.
- They were lucky - they found a fragment of a meteorite.
- But on the way back there were misfortunes.
- At first the professor broke his leg from the unsuccessful fall, and then he fell into the icy water.
- Experienced dogs led by Jerry, pulled him out of the icy water.
- While they reached the station through the storm, the professor's condition worsened, and Jerry froze his hands.
- Because of the storm all participants of the station had to be evacuated.
- But it was already impossible to take the dogs to the plane.
- Jerry agreed to fly without them only after the promise that there will be a second voyage and the dogs are also evacuated.
- But the storm intensified, winter began in Antarctica.
- Flight to the station failed to complete.Jerry for a long time been trying to get permission to fly to pick up the dogs from Antarctica.
- But he was denied because of the severe winter conditions.
- Only six months later, thanks to the professor, friend Cooper and pilot Kathy, Jerry returned to the station.
- He was afraid that the dogs left on the chain died.
- But out of eight dogs, six survived.
- A third of the film just showed the adventures of dogs in the Antarctic winter.
- There was a time when I turned it off after 20 minutes of watching the movie, fearing that I would not watch it.
- It was an episode when the professor fell and broke his leg.
- I very clearly presented this pain and all this horror, as very fresh were the memories of my broken leg and pain.
- But in the evening of the same day, I still decided to watch this movie.
- And I did not regret it.
- I liked the film very much.
- And really liked the dogs in the movie.
