Yes, it is true. There are no such words here. Nomosker (নমস্কার) does not mean “Hello” or “Hi” here but it is a greeting. You cannot use this phrase with everyone, it is because it depends on what religious people you are talking to. If you watch some Bangladeshi and Indian-Bengali videos then you will find a little difference in it. The majority people in India are Hindu so they start greeting with Nomosker (নমস্কার), where in Bangladesh most of them are Muslim, so here people start greeting with Assalamu Alaykum (আসসালামু আলাইকুম). If it is in person then it depends on what religion you are and with which religion people you are going to talk. Because south-Asian countries are religion-oriented countries. Here are some tips:

If you are,
1. Hindu, Christian or Buddhist greet Nomosker (নমস্কার) to Hindu, Christian or Buddhist

2. Muslim greet Assalamu Alaykum (আসসালামু আলাইকুম) to Muslim

3. Hindu, Christian or Buddhist greet Adab (আদাব) to Muslim

4. Muslim greet Adab (আদাব) to Hindu, Christian or Buddhist

5. Atheist or Agnostic’s greeting is uncertain (Because very few people are Atheist here)

6. If you are not certain his religion then just say Hello

But the rest of the greetings are the same, for instance, How are you? = Kemon achen (কেমন আছেন), Good morning = Shuvo sokal (শুভ সকাল)
